This is a single-story brick ranch with an attached carport, one of thousands like it across Memphis. We inspected it in early June and photographed the roof, the carport and the eaves.

When the crew tore off in early August, they found the original plank decking and, along the back eave, wood that had rotted through where water had been sitting for years. We cut out the bad sections, laid new sheathing where it was needed, installed new underlayment and shingles, and finished on August 4.

Plank decks and rotted eaves are two of the most common things we find under older Memphis roofs. Neither is visible from the yard, so every section we replace is photographed.
